If you know a learner in custody who has completed a Modern States course and passed the accompanying practice questions, congratulations! They may be eligible for free College Level Examination Program (CLEP) testing, a fantastic opportunity to earn college credits and jump-start their educational journey.

What Is CLEP?

Modern States has partnered with the College Board to provide learners with free access to CLEP exams. These exams are recognized for credit by over 2,900 colleges and universities across the country. CLEP offers students the chance to gain college credits by demonstrating mastery of course material, potentially saving them up to a full year of tuition and coursework once enrolled in traditional college programs.

While Edovo’s platform doesn’t support proctored exams due to its primary use on tablet devices, learners have alternative pathways to take CLEP exams and earn credit.

Options for CLEP Exam Proctoring

1. Facility-Based Proctoring:
   If the learner’s facility offers proctoring services, the facility can collaborate with the College Board to set up an official CLEP testing center.

2. Testing After Release:
   Upon release, learners can visit an eligible CLEP testing center to take the exam and earn free college credit.

How to Request Free CLEP Exam Vouchers

If a learner has completed Modern States coursework on Edovo and passed with a qualifying score, here’s how they can proceed:

1. Create a Modern States Account: The learner should visit the Modern States website and sign up for an account.
   ‍
2. Request a CLEP Exam Voucher: Once signed up, the learner should send a request to Modern States, including the following information:

“I have completed the Modern States coursework on Edovo and successfully passed the following course(s): [Insert course title(s)].
My name is [Insert Learner Name], and I completed this coursework in [Insert Facility Name] under the ID [Edovo Facility ID].”

1. Receive Voucher: Modern States will verify the completion of coursework through Edovo and provide a voucher for a free CLEP exam.

2. Take the Exam: With the voucher, the learner can schedule and take their CLEP exam. If they pass, they’ll earn free college credits that are widely accepted across thousands of institutions.
