Publishing fees
The publishing fee is a one-time fee applied when new content is onboarded to the Edovo platform. Publishing content inside correctional facilities requires far more than uploading files. All materials must meet strict security, compliance, and accessibility standards that differ significantly from traditional web-based publishing.
This fee covers the full content review and screening process to ensure compliance with facility requirements and learner appropriateness. It also supports instructional formatting where applicable and ensuring content aligns with Edovo’s learning experience standards. Additionally, the publishing fee covers technical adaptation for secure tablet delivery, metadata tagging and categorization to ensure discoverability within the platform, and comprehensive quality assurance testing before the content goes live.
Content partners select a publishing tier and can publish that amount of content items throughout their contract year.
Hosting & maintenance fees
The hosting & maintenance fee is an ongoing annual fee for content that remains live on the platform. Once published, Edovo provides the infrastructure and operational support necessary to ensure content remains accessible, functional, and up to date across hundreds of facilities nationwide.
This fee supports secure hosting and data storage within Edovo’s correctional technology ecosystem, as well as continued platform updates and compatibility management as tablet hardware and facility systems evolve. It also covers ongoing quality assurance and technical monitoring, access to basic learner engagement analytics, and continued national distribution to over one million incarcerated learners.
The hosting & maintenance fee ensures that your content is not only launched successfully, but sustained, supported, and measurable over time.
What is an item?
On Edovo, an “item” refers to a distinct piece of content that you publish to the platform. Because Edovo delivers content inside correctional facilities on secure tablets, each piece of content must be prepared, formatted, and reviewed in a way that works for justice-impacted learners and meets the technical and security requirements of correctional environments.
Items can include full courses or interactive resources made in our Editor application or other non-structured learning units that learners can engage with independently, like a podcast episode, meditation video, or a book. Each item is counted separately for pricing purposes, meaning the Publishing Fee and the Hosting & Maintenance Fee are based on the number of items you make available to learners over the course of your contract.
